Hairstyles

Hi guys! Aero here today. Mom wanted me to ask for opinions. As you know, I'm a Chinese Crested! I'm of the powderpuff variety, that means I have soft, long hair all over my body. This is when I was about 7 months old!

My hair could get longer than this- I'm talking floor-length curtain of locks!

Mom had me shaved into what's called a "Pony Cut" for a while.... I got a lot of compliments on it, and it was nice to not have to have my bum brushed! The problem with this cut is that my feet still attract a lot of leaves, stickers, and dirt.

Check out my sexy little booty!

I've even been shaved pretty much bald, except for a mohawk and my tail!

Yeehaw! This style is super low-maintenance! AND you can see my collar.

Well, here's the deal. Don't go spreading this around, but I'm a little bit SENSITIVE when it comes to being groomed. Mom would love to have me in full coat, but it takes a LOT of commitment and to be honest, I just don't have the temperament to sit through grooming every day! Mom has tried for more than two years to counter condition me to brushing, but I just don't like it. My hair is super-soft, and it mats REALLY easily. I'm telling you, don't look at it funny, it'll snarl up into a tangle!

Here I am today! I just got a bath yesterday.

Note the plant matter in my legs

Mom thinks I look super cute right now (I'm always super cute, though!), but she'd like some opinions on how I should wear my hair for the summer. The options are...

............................................drumroll, please.................................................

1) Nekkid with a mohawk and tail.
2) Just like this, but shorter
3) A pony cut!

So, what do you guys think?

    1. Thanks for weighing in! I wish I could just keep him this length, but it's best for our relationship to stop trying I think, haha.

  2. I think you are so cute no matter what. Torrey has long thick aussie hair and last year got a hair cut. That was so much easier for her and me. But, I think I will keep her long this year and trim her bum and feet. See how it goes. She lets me brush her though. Mainly because she knows she will get a cookie after.
    So I would vote 2.

    1. Thank you! Torrey has such long hair, my aussie Kitty is pretty short haired. I love Torrey's long ear locks. So cute.

Aero will let me brush him, but he really hates it. He cries if I find the tiniest tangle, and Dog Forbid I brush his toes- that's his least favorite. Even if they are not tangled, he will scream and cry.

When his hair is longer like it is now, I need to comb him every day. It really affects our relationship, and I don't want him to be fearful of me. So, a haircut it is!

Thanks for weighing in! I'm interested to see if anyone else votes on it, then I'll make a decision. I suppose we could try this style shorter and see how it goes. If I need to shave more later, I can!

  3. I vote nakey puppy! (That's what I call my dog when I take off his collar to groom him.) Cresties have the bangs I dream of every time I decide I can totally pull them off. I can't.

    1. Hehe thanks for voting! The nakey pup look was super easy to maintain and I loved being able to see his collar clearly. Hmmmmmm.

  4. You look like a pretty cool dog right now! So... #2 is my vote.

Btdubbs, I don't like being brushed, either! (What jerk invented pin brushes anyways?!) I can handle the soft horse face brush my mom bought for me, but that's about it--and I'd better be getting a lot of treats while she's working on me. Usually, though, Mom cheats and just clips any mats or tangles I get.
